Default VA conversion

So I am getting ready to remove the heater box and controlls from my '70. I was curious if anyone can tell me what (if any) of the stock heating system including ductwork, outlets or anything else I will need to save from my original system to make the conversion to a VA complete? My car is a NON AC car. Can I just toss the ENTIRE system and start over? I would like to smooth the firewall too, I have seen several smoothed walls with cars running VA set ups. Can I do the same?

Thanks for the advice in advance guys!

Hi Eric, If you are going to install a GEN IV Vintage Air system you will only need to keep your vents at the bottom left & right of your dash. The system is very complete, but you will need to change your dash pad to an air one & get the center vent for it. I can set you up with the system that you need just send me an e-mail or give me a call.

Thanks Randy. I will be in touch on that. The current dash pad it garbage anyway so I am pretty much starting from scratch on the entire interior. From the floor up to the headliner. Everything except the dash sub structure. So if I can dump all of the old controls, duct work, vents and anything else I will be happy. Same with the stuff under the hood. The heater box, lines, anything on the firewall. I want to smooth it out a little anyway.

You might know about this, I want to hide the wiper motor in the cowl. Have you done or know how to do that and what needs to happen with the linkages and motor mounting?

Hi Eric, you might be able to take a DSE universal kit & move it to the inside of the cowl. then make an access panel to drop[ it out from under the dash or a bolt in L bracket that would hold it in the same position as if it were on the fire wall.

Thanks Randy. I will look into that. I was hoping to be able to service it from outside of the passenger compartment. Maybe just through the cowl screen area. I will have to do some measuring. Do you know what motor the DSE kit uses so I can then get dimensions and figure out a mounting position/method?
(is the motor a factory GM or other off the shelf item?)
